National Food Quality Schemes
KLASA
The priority of the KLASA label is primarily to offer consumers high-quality food products with exceptional characteristics that increase their added value and guarantee their uniqueness in relation to standard products available on the market.
Regional Food Product
A Regional Food Product label is awarded by the Ministry of Agriculture to the highest quality agricultural and food products that win regional competitions. The product must be produced in the region where the award was granted and from raw materials sourced in that region.
European Food Quality Schemes
The European Union provides certain quality guarantees for some foods. The system is represented by three labels designed to protect and promote the names of high-quality agricultural products.
Traditional Speciality Guaranteed (TSG)
An agricultural product or foodstuff that has been produced or manufactured for at least 30 years and whose special characteristics are recognized by the EU.
Protected Designation of Origin (PDO)
A designation for an exceptional agricultural product or foodstuff from a given region or place, whose quality or characteristics are determined by a specific geographical environment.
Protected Geographical Indication (PGI)
Designation of an exceptional agricultural product or foodstuff from a given region or place. For a geographical indication, it is sufficient that only some stage of production (production, processing, or preparation) of the food or agricultural product takes place in the defined area.
Organic Food
Organic food must be produced only from the highest quality raw materials in accordance with the applicable legislation for organic food production. Food must be carefully processed, using biological, mechanical, and physical methods where possible – in other words, using traditional methods.
