Regional Food Product label
Would you like to support local producers and enjoy exceptional products at the same time? The Regional Food label is here to show you the way to the best our regions have to offer.
What is the Regional Food label?
Since 2010, the Ministry of Agriculture has been awarding the Regional Food Product label to the highest quality agricultural or food products that win in 13 regional competitions. Winning products can carry the Regional Food award for a period of 4 years. The aim of this initiative is to support local producers and make it easier for consumers to find high-quality regional products.
Who can apply for the label?
Producers who manufacture food in a given region, mainly from regional ingredients, can apply for the Regional Food Product label. It is also important that the number of employees in the company does not exceed 250.
What are the conditions for obtaining the label?
In order for a product to obtain the Regional Food Product label, it must meet several conditions set out in the Methodology for Awarding the Regional Food Product Label:
- Origin and raw materials: The product must be produced in the given region. At least 70% of the ingredients must come from the region or, in justified cases, from the Czech Republic. However, the main raw material must always be 100% of domestic origin.

- Compliance with legal regulations: The product must comply with all applicable national and European food law regulations.
- Regular availability: The product should be able to be marketed regularly, with the exception of seasonal products.
How is the evaluation carried out?
The Evaluation Committee decides on the award of the Regional Food Product label. The Committee evaluates both the information provided in the application for the Regional Food Product label and the product itself, emphasizing its connection to the region, quality characteristics, composition, and sensory properties.
